DHI technique

There are other methods used in hair transplant operations such as the DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique. This is one of the most advanced on the market, and makes the resulting appearance more natural and safe thanks to the fact that it is done manually. This gives the specialist in charge of the procedure a better control of the angle and depth of the implant.

Interventions made with this technique are less invasive than other more common ones, and specific instruments are used to extract the follicles from the donor area directly and place them in the depopulated areas.

It is one of the least invasive techniques available today since it does not require previous punctures on the scalp In the first transplants with the DHI technique each hair was extracted one by one, but the system improved with the arrival of the micro-motor. Thanks to it, specialists can do their work much quicker and more efficiently during the intervention.

Currently, we are working with an instrument similar to a pen called IMPLANTER, which is a much more innovative tool.

How is the operation of a CHOI pen for implantation?

The implant pen or implant pen technique (IMPLANTER) was invented at the University of South Korea. It was made keeping in mind the need of the specialists to integrate, in a single process, the extraction of the follicle from the donor part and the implantation in the recipient part in a single stage.

An IMPLANTER Pen resembles a ballpoint pen with a hollow point that is attached to a plunger. With this instrument the follicular units are collected, and the doctors carrying out the restoration have the necessary experience to use it with great skill.

The grafts are then loaded into the hollow of the needle and each follicle is inserted into the scalp. The needle of this pen opens the channel in which the graft is going, and then the specialist presses the plunger at the correct angle, and the implant is placed at the indicated depth.

It is normal to use more than one IMPLANTER pen, up to six pens can be used during the operation to make the process faster. These devices have needles of different sizes to store from a single follicular unit or even two or three.

WHY THE IMPLANTATOR BALLPOINT IS ONE OF THE BEST OPTIONS.

With this method, there are no previous needs in the scalp, the IMPLANTER Pen opens the channels in which the grafts will go at the same moment of the graft. This process is minimally invasive and reduces the possibility of suffering hemorrhages or traumas during the hair transplant.

This advantage allows the team of professionals to obtain a greater number of healthy and viable hair follicles.

With the DHI technique, the results after the intervention will be more satisfactory for the patients. The key is in the manual implantation that gives the specialists greater control over the transplanted area, in order to make the appearance of the hair more natural.

Pros and cons of the DHI method

The instruments that will be used are important, but a highly skilled staff is required to obtain quality results.

If you need help choosing between the Direct Hair Implantation method or any other technique, we have a list of the advantages and disadvantages of the implant pen so you can consider if this is the technique that suits you best.

Pros

• High percentage of healthy and viable follicles.

• Bleeding is minimized during insertion into the recipient area.

• The risk of infection is reduced.

• Decreased trauma during the transplant process and damage to the blood supply to the implant site.

• Post-operative recovery is much faster.

Cons

• The stage of previous training for medical personnel is somewhat long, but it is necessary for them to learn to master the technique.

• At least six people are required to perform the intervention.

• If those responsible for the transplant with the DHI technique are not familiar with the device or the procedure, the process may take longer than expected.
