In the DHI technique, a tool called Implanter is used, performing the implantation directly, which makes it much safer and with a much more natural final appearance. The DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique consists of a procedure to remove the hair follicles from the back and side (called the donor area) one by one and then place them in the areas required by the patient (called receiving area). It is currently one of the most advanced techniques.
• Preparation:We realize an analysis to check that there are no incompatibilityproblems. An interview with the doctor and a translator to design the operation.Sleep the area by administrating local anesthesia
• First Phase:The first phase of the operation is the extraction of the follicles. With thehelp of an 0.6 mm diameter punch the follicular units are extracted fromthe donor area. This phase can last between 3 and 4 hours depending inthe needs of each patient
We take a little recess of 20 minutes in order that the patient can rest and eat.
• Second Phase:In the last phase of the hair transplant procedure, the extracted follicles will be placed, making holes in the recipient area with an IMPLANTER or PEN to achieve the maximum possible capillary density in the patient. In this part of the operation some factors must be taken into account such as the implementation line, the density of the implants and the direction of the implementation to name a few. This procedure could last between 3 and 4 hours depending on the needs of the patient.
• If you suffer from Androgenetic alopecia.
• If you suffer from localized hear losses.
• If you suffer from scarring alopecia of reduced extension.
• If you want to wear short hair and don't have the linear scar visible
• If you want dissimilar scars or previous transplants.
Before undergoing a hair transplant intervention, the CapilClinic medicalteam conducts a medical study to determine the type of baldness and the besttechnique to guarantee the success of the operation.
In this first visit we analyze the patient’s medical record, check if he suffersfrom any disease and listen carefully to what he expects from the futureintervention.
Some of the issues that we need to have prepared for our first visit with theCapilClinic medical team are:
• When we notice that our hair was starting to fell off.
• If there was any noteworthy change in the time past.
• If we previously have been in another medical or surgical treatment forthe hair lost
• What medications and vitamin complexes we are taking at this time.
• Which are your allergies in case we have any.
• What do we expect from this hair transplant intervention.
When the surgeon has in his power all the information, it will be the moment torealize the first exam to determine the follicles loss percentage, the thicknessand shape of our hair, the type of hair loss that affects us, the density andfollicular quality of the donor area (the back of the head and the area above theears)
After this first exam, the intervention will be planned, offering a date and all typeof details about how it will be carried out, the preoperative, the day of theintervention and the postoperative.
In the same way, a series of indications will be sent to the patient which he willfollow closely to arrive in the best conditions to the hair follicle transplant.
Seven days before the intervention, the in-take of medications such as aspirin,anti-inflammatories, vitamin complexes with relaxing effects or any type of pillsthat may increase bleeding during transplantation should be abandoned.
It´s important that in the week in which we are going to undergo the interventionwe don’t have a haircut. It´s also advisable not to make physical efforts such assports in the days before hair transplantation.
When there are only three days left for the ‘D’ day, we sill stop drinkingalcohol. I f we can avoid it, we will not consume drinks that contain caffeine and,if we are smokers, we should refrain from smoking during the hours before theoperation.
What we can do, if we consider it necessary, is to wash our hair the night before the transplant. As long we do it with a very mild shampoo, such as those madefor babies, or that have been recommended to us from the clinic.
For any questions or queries related to the preoperative or the hair transplantintervention, do not hesitate to contact the clinic staff through any of the contactforms you can find on this website.
Before starting the hair transplant in Mexico, the patient will undergo a blood test tocheck that everything is correct. This is intended to record that the transplanted futuredoes not suffer from Hepatitis B or C or AIDS. Since in that case the operation cannotbe performed, as indicated by the safety regulations.
Once successfully passed, the reception area agreed upon with the transplant has beendesigned and the number of follicles that will be necessary to complete the transplant iscalculated, the donor area will be numbed with cold using narcotic ether.
After verifying that the skin has lost sensitivity local anesthesia will be administeredthrough a process that hardly causes discomfort. The effects of anesthesia will last forabout 12 hours.
Once under the effect of anesthesia it will begin the placement of the first grafts, tomark the first reception line, grafts of a single hair follicle will be used.
Depending on the number of follicles to be grafted, the intervention time will vary. The first thing that will be done is the removal of the grafts. To proceed with theextraction, the patient will be placed either face down or sideways. Subsequently, once all the necessary follicles are removed, you will be placed semi-seated toproceed with the placement of the grafts. In total, this whole process will lastbetween 5 and 7 hours.
The first stage involves removing follicles from the donor area with a 0.8 mm motorized punch, for double or triple injectors. After them come the individual injectors that are extracted with a somewhat finer motorized blow. In this case 0.6 and 0.7 mm.
Throughout this process, a team person is responsible for counting and organizing the follicles by separating them by single, double or triple grafts. Extraction and counting ends at the same time.
After a break to resume strength, the opening of channels in the receiving area willcontinue. This is a phase that requires extreme expertise and experience, sincemuch of the success of the operation happens because it is done correctly.
The incisions are made using custom blades with diameters smaller than the size of thegrafts. The grafts will be locked in the incisions making sure they contact with theirbeds, since that’s the only way they survive. In the event that there is hair in thereceptive area, it will be respected by working around it carefully so as not to damagethe healthy follicles.
Graft seeding will be carried out respecting the direction of growth in the determinedarea using microsurgery techniques and instruments until the number of grafts iscompleted to ensure that the reception area is completely populated.
The objective is that 100% of the transplanted grafts end up surviving. Something thatwill be checked in the different postoperative reviews that will be scheduled once theintervention is finished.
To ensure that the hair transplant taken in Mexico with FUE Technique endures for life, the patient will be informed in detail, offering all instructions and procedures to followDuring the first three days the patient will have to wear a bandage in the donor area. Thereception area will be left uncovered. Nothing can touch the transplanted grafts duringthe first 24 hours after surgery.
That is why the first night you should sleep on your back, with your head slightlyraised, raised by pillows and without any reception area can contact anything, it will behealed.
It will be the day after the intervention when the bandage is removed from the donorarea. This area will not require any special care since, at the time of the removal of thebandage, it will already have healed.
At that same time the medical team will provide you with the necessary medicationsand lotions to start with the postoperative period. In case you feel any discomfort, youcan resort to the intake of painkillers every 8 hours. These will be provided by theclinic.
Some transplants patients experience a swelling in the area around the eyes that isreduced to disappear by itself within two to three days. That is the reason why, after being reviewed by the surgeon, the patient can return to hiscountry just 24 hours after the operation. Time when you can return to work and doyour usual chores.
However, it is not advisable to resume sexual activity until 48 hours have passed from the operation, neither is advisee to resume physical activity until a month has passed from the hair transplant operation.
It will be from the third day when you can wash your hair for the first time. It isessential to prevent scabs from appearing in the immediate vicinity of the transplantedhair during the first ten days after the intervention, since these adhere to the follicle stemthus increasing the chances of new hairs falling during that first week.
The hair wash will be done in two steps taking about an hour to complete. The first 45minutes will be used to apply the moisturizing and softening lotion in the grafted areaand wait for it to penetrate the scalp.
After these three quarters of an hour we will apply the neutral shampoo that doctorshave advised us without removing the moisturizing lotion. To remove the shampoo, wewill use warm water and very low water pressure.
This process should be extended during the first week after the operation and should bedone at least once a day and never more than two.
From the fifth day after the intervention we can begin to massage the receiving areavery gently with the fingertips every time we apply the shampoo on the scalp. From daysix to ten we will gradually increase the pressure at which we perform the massagewhile placing the shampoo.
The first doses of moisturizing lotion (Bepanthol Lotion or Excipial hydrolotion) andneutral shampoo (Sebamed Shampoo or baby shampoo) will be delivered by themedical team.
After the first week after the operation, the scabs should have fallen, and the clotsdisappeared from our scalp. However, if there are any of these remain, we will notforcefully withdraw it, but wait for it to fall alone.
When we see that the receiving area is already in conditions, generally at the beginningof the second week of the postoperative period, we can start using a normal shampoo. From that moment on, nobody will notice that you were undergone a hair transplant.
Finally, remember that during the first month, we should not expose our scalp to the sunor high temperatures, so we will avoid as far as possible to go outside.
